Lets see
There was just one guy that graduated from the snare line. However, I think Pam will want to march more than the 8 we did last year. So either 3 or 4 spots will probably be open.
However, the number of people trying out is a completely different story. We hear a number of people that said they might want to try out, and that number is always big, but the number that actually show up for auditions is completely up in the air.

ALthough I believe it is important to know how many people are trying out, but here it is different since Dr. Nave is very very good at seeing a player's potential, and choosing members. Here are some things to note:
1. practice the audition music 2. follow directions (this especially applies during band camp) 3. have a positive attitude-don't think you are God's gift to drumming. He has already sent us a messiah and that is Pam. The one thing she hates the most is someone with a bad attitude. See the movie Drumline for more details. 4. relax-this is not the end of the world if you are cut, or if you seem to have a hard time during band camp.
PS-Pam does not always pick upperclassmen over freshmen, she will pick the best players for the job

remain open minded at all times...be open to different techniques and different methods of teaching. Have a flexible way of playing and be able to play with the person next to you. This drumline thrives on attitude, and the ability to play with other people. The key is maintaining a good vibe, and a willingness to learn and play. and for goodness sake...enjoy your craft. The minute you think your way is better is the minute you fall short. realizing that there is more than one way to guage the success of a drumline is a must. create a good vibe....the rest will be an experience you never forget.

Very wonderfully put! If you had a line where everyone bought into that mentality they would definitely be smokin'!!!
