Read the Subject. It's true. If you've heard the music, play along. There are only 4 stickings on the snare part that aren't straightforward. And if you're playing any flams in there, stop, there are none. There's only taps, accents, and diddles. Also, the sticking is straight the whole way through.
1. At the end of the repeats in Funky5's, we do triple strokes for the sextuplets. ( r lllrrr l )
2-3. Between 5's and Suncoast, 2 beats of 16ths 2 beats of pounded 16ths (hold the sticks vertically and pound the drum) Also done at the end of Suncoast.
4. The second time through after the tenor solo of suncoast, instead of diddling there, play hertas.
There, listen to it about 3 times through, and (though for some of you it may be fast) you can hear the simple logic behind these cadences.

H herta is when you take an isolated diddle, and single stroke it.

Now the question arises, did you ask because you didn't think people would know, or because you're an "not a very nice person" (read as "a$$hole")? ;D

Why don't they just call it a "single stroked isolated diddle"? Wouldn't that be much easier? Ok, now I'm being an "not a nice person". Truth is, I knew all along....HA...I fooled you. However, I wouldn't mind some insite into how the name "herta" evolved?

I think you should say it as an audible while you're playing them...that would be sweet.
