I'm so happy I got cut for tenors....really I was happy back then....I guess that says something about cymbals (though I guess I am a little biased by now)
But freshman, tenors are awesome now.....Bowers is going to make them so clean. Snares and basses are good too, but everyone already likes them--no need to persuade.

Matt is going to be so disappointed with our tenor line now. I'm not saying we arn't good because we definitly are ;D but nothing can compare to The Cadets. He will just have to learn to love us for the not quite perfect people we are.

yeah, i'm sure fish will be dissappoined in us after comparing us to..... huh. i don't think there are any places to really go for hard-core cymbal playing. i mean, i could go out and do the corp style slushies, but it's really just a one man show then. well, fish, whatever it was you were doing this summer i hope it doesn't make us less talented in your eyes! have pity on me, i'm not perfect like you are!!!

don't worry he is far from perfect with his lack of overlord belly, huge glasses, and gigantic nose

Hey, new to the forum...been reading this thread for a little while. Getting all psyched out and whatnot for auditions. Can't wait though...
You guys should get out and see your tenor playin' friend in the Cadets. I've seen the Cadets once already this summer and I'm going to see them again at DCI finals in Madison. 'Bout a 4-5 hour drive for you crazy people who like road trips.

REPRESENT FOR THE TENORS! Yeah, I saw a video of Matt, man, he is gonna work us over this year. Hopefully it'll make us sound even better though, considering I suck, lol.

Hey, if anyone's going to go to any other shows this summer, I live right here in WL and would love to go. I was hoping people would want to go to the Naperville, IL show on August 6. Great lineup including Cavies, Cadets, and Phantom. Went last year...it's only like 2 and a half hours.

Alex! you're such a crazy, but we love you anyway.
so anyway, i have a few questions about the audition music: is it expected that we audition this piece at marching tempo? Is there not supposed to be an accent on beat 4 of m. 28 in the snare part? and also, can someone clarify what the dots under the buzzes mean? Thanks, i look forward to auditions!

i don't know anything about the snare questions, but i do know about the tempo. you will be marching this, so it will be at a decent marching tempo. but for auditions if you can't do it that fast you can drop it down a little, it's better to go a few beats little slower and not mess up than try to do it too fast and really screw it up. don't do it so slow it's a crawling tempo, but at a tempo where you can play it. try to make sure you just don't slow down or speed up during your audition! :-) i'd say just try to get as close as you can to the correct tempo. if you don't quite make it up to speed for the audition, don't worry too much. pam knows that you haven't completely cleaned it yet, that's what band camp is for.

As far as tempo...if you can play it CLEAN at 124 you are pretty good to go. It's probably best to stretch yourself as far as you can go so that, if anything, you are overprepared. On a separate note... I WILL be going to Naperville on the 6th, after the video shoot . If anyone wants to hitch a ride let me know.

So what's it like trying out on bass? Do they just make you play a part alone? Shouldn't you play with the rest of the line? And tempo's 120ish, right? And yes, Chunky Monkey is awesome. With some hard splits, too.

Like Stout said, you'll be pretty much set if you can play it clean at 124. For auditions the basses do audition individually, not as a full line.
